Disable Active Desktop  Windows 98
Windows 98 came with a little feature known as 'Active Desktop'. It advertises good looking web links and interactive menus. Although all this is good and happy, it has been proven the biggest cause of crashes and freezes a computer can ever get. My advice is to disable it and keep it that way! You can check if it's on by right-clicking on your desktop, and going to the 'Active Desktop' menu. If there is a tick next to it, then click on it to disable it.

Windows ME  Windows ME
Remove it quick! Windows ME is great for people who only use their machine for general letter writing and repetitive tasks, but for the more experienced user, this operating system will give you to much hassle.
